Manganari Beach Ios

Manganari beach called also Magganari beach is considered one of the most beautiful in the whole of Ios Island but not only is it also in the list among the best in all of Greece. We find it in the extreme southern part about thirty kilometers from the Chora and far from everything.

An oasis of peace that is hardly credible given the liveliness for which Ios stands out with the other Aegean islands, a favorite destination especially for young people who want to do 24 hours a day. However there are still corners where peace reigns supreme, where loud music, crowds of sweaty young people and with the desire to dance until dawn not even the shadow. Here this is the case of Manganari beach, the perfect place for families and for those who just want to enjoy a splendid sea. Its favorable position shelters it often and willingly from the winds making it very comfortable for a day of leisure.

In reality, the whole bay offers other coasts, one larger than the main one and the most popular, with a long tongue of coarse sand, crystalline, warm and transparent waters, a blue and turquoise sea with a gently sloping seabed. this perfect for families with children and lovers of long swims. Even snorkelers will have a lot of fun so don't forget fins, snorkel, mask and an underwater camera to immortalize the marine inhabitants.

It is equipped with sunbeds and umbrellas at a cost of about € 7 per day, equipped points for water sports where you can challenge old and new friends in activities related to the sea and the wind. Beyond the dunes a choice of typical taverns where you can sit and savor the delicacies of Greek and local cuisine based on fresh fish, seafood or meat. For the more "free" instead there are parts of the beach completely free where you can decide to put your towel and enjoy your sunny day.

The other wonderful coves that are part of the Manganari beach are Sanganari and Midansad which are nothing more than the extension of the beach. Two small pearls to the north that can be reached with a pleasant walk where you will find a sea with even more beautiful and transparent waters where it is possible there is no one but a few small goat

Given its remote and long distance from the Chora, it is always undisturbed and never noisy such as the equally famous Mylopotas beach, perhaps also for this reason it has managed to remain wild and unspoiled as we can admire it now and only for this reason every year is awarded the much coveted Blue Flag.

Considering its width, the Manganari beach is waiting to be discovered, take a nice walk to discover the other small bays and dive into the Argentine waters, you will notice that it is a continuous alternation of areas of fine and coarser sand until it becomes small gravel.

There are various possibilities, let's start with the most comfortable one. If you have a rental vehicle that is a car or scooter (in this case we advise you to choose a displacement of at least 150cc), you can take the decidedly winding road that crosses the island with continuous ups and downs but which offers views from leave you speechless.

The second option is by sea. From the Ormos port every day there are organized excursions that will take you up to here.Last chance by public transport.

From the port, the Chora or the beach of Mylopotas every day, especially in the summer, there are several daily departures (usually we are around € 7.50 round trip). Always check the timetables in advance in order to organize yourself in the best possible way.

A majestic lagoon where you can spend a whole day discovering the area or even just to enjoy a quiet break under the warm rays of the sun, are enough reasons for you to include it in the list of beaches to see in Ios?
