Evia

Thapsa Beach Eubea

2 minutes to read

And here we are at a diamond in the rough of the Evia Island, the Thapsa Beach. We find it in the central part on the east side and we can say with certainty that it is one of the most beautiful, perhaps the most beautiful of this wonderful and surprising island.

Also called the "Blue Lagoon", it is a coast wedged in a small bay surrounded by high mountains covered with rich green vegetation with a forest of tamarisk trees that almost reach the sea, a beach made of small white stones mixed with light sand, transparent and crystalline waters with a sea that goes from turquoise to emerald a real picture that only Mother Nature could paint.

The seabed in Thapsa beach drops quite quickly so if you are a family with children, be very careful and constantly watch over the little ones. For snorkelers, on the other hand, it will be like being in a playground due to the richness of the seabed full of fish flora and fauna so do not forget fins, mask and an underwater camera to be able to immortalize the wonders of the abyss. Equally lucky, the fans of long and relaxing swims, here can really tire themselves to exhaustion.

Thaspa beach is not equipped everything is still in its natural and original state (and as always we hope it will remain so forever), so 'if you decide to venture up to here', remember to bring everything you need because when we will explain how to reach it you will understand why...

It is the classic postcard coast, which is always very difficult and relative to be told in words, only by seeing it with your own eyes will you be able to realize how special Thapsa Beach is. Given the difficulty to get there, the human footprint is almost absent, only a few scattered summer homes of some lucky Greek, nothing more ', but the beauty is just that, a small corner of unspoiled paradise where peace reigns supreme and where to recharge your energy.

Few people will find even during the summer season, not many are aware of this splendid beach, only a few brave brave who accept the challenge to reach it. Let's say first of all that it is necessary to have a 4x4 as the road is unpaved but really unpaved ones, with holes and pebbles that with a normal car it is not possible to do. Even with a front-wheel drive vehicle, it is still difficult, you have to be skilled drivers since the torture extends for about ten kilometers. There is always the option to look for a local guide to accompany you so problem solved.

How to get to Thapsa Beach

Let's say that until you reach the dirt road, it is very easy. Therefore, always keeping the capital Chalcis as a reference and head towards the Kymi village which is on the opposite side. Then follow the road to Konistres until you reach the Maletianoi village. From here 'continue until you find a bin with the word "Tsilaro" where the dirt road begins. An ups and downs for about ten kilometers for this it also takes a 4x4 vehicle until you begin to descend to the beach.

A destination to be included among the things to see in Evia as unique, a primitive place but with an exotic atmosphere, with that pinch of magic that amply rewards all the comforts that are missing and that will make you come back even for a single day in contact with Mother Nature who also in this case has shown her immense generosity.
