Kallianos Beach Eubea

2 minutes to read

The Kallianos Beach, we find it in the south east part of the spectacular Evia Island just below the little man village. On the opposite side, about fifty kilometers on the west side, the charming seaside resort of Marmari.

Wedged in the Dimosari Gorge where Mount Ochi stands out with its 1386 meters high and an environment of amazing biodiversity, it is right in the middle of two large cliffs with a small stream that descends from the mountain towards the sea.

It must be said that this whole area has a very special charm, starting with the gorge which hosts one of the most beautiful hiking trails in all of Greece. Ten kilometers divided into two parts with the Lenosei village with all its wild and steep area where instead it leads down to the sea so as to seem more like a valley perhaps due to its proximity to the river that arrives right at the Kallianos beach where according to rumors, metal mines were found due to the rust found on the beach. A continuous change of landscape, between plane trees and chestnuts, birds of prey and many animal species that as if by magic sprout from a rock as if to control who is approaching their paradise.

The shoreline of Kallianos beach in the shape of a semicircle with high cliffs on the sides that protect it like an embrace, is made up of coarse sand mixed with large pebbles, sparkling and clean waters, a sea that from blue turns to emerald green and then returns to blue intense from the bottom that descends strongly therefore suitable only for expert swimmers.

Here too, as in many beaches in Greece, nothing reigns supreme in the sense that if you are expecting umbrellas and sunbeds, forget it, here only a towel spread out where you will feel more inspired and zero comfort. On the contrary, if you want to eat something or you have an almost dry throat, there are two taverns where you can sit, taste the dishes of classic Greek cuisine based on fresh products prepared perhaps following ancient recipes, admire the magical Aegean and let yourself be carried away only by the sound of the sea.

Here you come for a day of total relaxation, where tranquility and the slow passing of time have no hands, where to rest, free your mind and regenerate with all five senses.

Kallianos beach like Agios Dimitrios beach is a fixed point for camping lovers and for campers who fearless and without any fear go to this remote valley but who are rewarded by a raw, wild, generous and unique nature.

How to get to Kallianos Beach

First of all you have to reach the Dimosari Gorge, taking Marmari as a reference point, go literally crossing the island to the east, always follow the main road Epar.Od. Marmariou - Amigdalias until you arrive at the Kallianos village and then go down to the beach.

It can only be reached with your own vehicle, there are no buses that will take you here and perhaps also for this reason it is still so archaic, unspoiled and almost unknown.

A stop to note in the list of things to see in Evia, perhaps combining it with the Agios Dimitrios beach and an excellent opportunity to explore the majestic Dimosari Gorge, a real temple of Mother Nature.
