Kalamos Beach Eubea

We therefore arrive at one of the most beautiful beaches of the Evia Island, Kalamos Beach. We find it on the east side halfway more towards the southern part. About ten kilometers away is the Avlonari village.

A bay that creates two distinct beaches, one called Kali (which in Greek means good) and the other called Kakia (which in Greek means bad) but we will explain later why and the difference. Both offer a coast of soft white sand mixed with light colored stones, clean and transparent waters that are hard to find so clear in the rest of Evia, a sea from blue to sparkling turquoise with a backdrop which descends very quickly, already five meters from the shore becomes immediately deep, therefore not really suitable for families with children, but perfect for lovers of long swims.

The "good" part owes this name to the fact that here the sea is almost always very calm, while the "bad" part when Aeolus decides to make himself heard, we can say that he succeeds very well and besides being annoying by slapping you for free with the sand , it also creates waves that are not quite so inviting.

The natural scenery, however, is something wonderful, in the middle of the cove, a spectacular natural monument of rock made in an arch that seems to want to divide and clearly distinguish the beaches and all around gentle hills covered with maritime pines that color the stones creating an almost unreal scenario. Kalamos beach is a paradise for snorkelers thanks to the many caves and tunnels between the rocks where you can go in search of the underwater world made up of a rich and varied fish fauna and flora, so do not forget, mask, snorkel, fins and an underwater camera to immortalize the friendly inhabitants of the Aegean.

One part is well equipped with sunbeds and umbrellas while behind you you can find some taverns where you can sit enjoying the sea view and taste the dishes of classic Greek and local cuisine. Kalamos beach is much loved by young people and by those who love to have fun, so much so that many Athenians decide to spend the weekend here as it is only a couple of hours drive from the Hellenic capital.

The area where there is no type of comfort, on the other hand, is besieged by camping fans, here it is possible to pitch your tent and enjoy the beautiful nature that only the island of Evia is able to offer.

If you decide to spend your holiday in Greece here, there is no shortage of accommodation opportunities, you can find them from simple apartments, to cheap rooms for rent and small hotels, all enriched by several cafes, places where to stay late in the evening, shops and Cafe.

Surely the Kalamos beach is not the beach and the right area if you want a relaxing holiday, on the contrary here everything is always very active and in motion, time for tranquility is not provided.

Head east, following the signs for the village of Avlonari and then descend towards the coast and after about ten kilometers you will have arrived. As always, it would be better to have your own vehicle to be more free and decide how much time to dedicate to this beautiful beach.

A necessary destination where the sea and the whole context is a natural framework and therefore to be discovered absolutely and ticked off among the things to see in Evia.
