Getting around in Evia
Evia island is big big big, just think that it covers almost 3700 square kilometers with a length of 175 kilometers and a width that goes from 6 to 50 kilometers.
There are so many things to see in Evia and it will be very difficult to touch them all unless you have many days available for your holidays in Greece 2023. Even making a very tight itinerary, it will truly be an almost titanic undertaking to be able to cover all the beauties that this wonderful but still unknown island offers.
Given its size, as always, the most suitable vehicle is the car. As we explained in the article dedicated to how to get to Evia, our advice is to rent a car unless you have decided to arrive from Italy by ferry directly with yours, cross the entire Peloponnese to arrive in Rafina, the port from which you embark to reach the island in the southern part in Marmari.
The car on such a large island and where there are also many mountain roads to take to discover a still intact and typically rural environment and its splendid beaches, is undoubtedly the best way to enjoy the wonders that Mother Nature has created in this corner of Greece.
If, on the other hand, you have decided for your holiday in Evia a stay based on relaxation and only on the beach, you can also rent a two-wheeled vehicle which, however, will limit your movements a lot unless you are a real byker and grind kilometers like there was no tomorrow.
The scooter or even better the motorbike (don't take small cylinders at least a 150 cc) you can very well rent it on your arrival perhaps with help from the structure in which you decide to stay.
For those who really don't want to drive during their holiday in Greece, the public transport service is not so bad, as always you have to pay attention to the timetables, the destinations and organize everything with the utmost precision.
