Evia

How to get to Evia

2 minutes to read

Evia or also called Eubea or Negroponte is a very large island and so close to the Attica peninsula we are talking about forty kilometers that it does not even look like an island but rather an extension of the mainland

A favorite destination above all for Greek tourism and still little frequented by international tourism, Evia island is a real beauty. To the north, a barren, mountainous and almost threatening landscape with many villages still frozen in time, expanses of vineyards, free and graceful goats that graze in total tranquility and thermal springs that attract many visitors to benefit from the miraculous waters. Not to mention the fantastic Archipelago of the Lichadonisia Islands where the sea seems Caribbean and stretches of white beaches await you for a swim and to relax in the sun. And further south towards Karystos with a nature that will leave you breathless.

It is very close to the Andros and Kea islands in the Cyclades archipelago but unfortunately there are no connections between them. A dive into the real Greece, perfect for trekking lovers and those who love to discover almost fairy-like places that will leave an indelible mark on your holiday in Evia.

Given its short distance from the mainland it is truly child's play to reach it.

First of all it is necessary to arrive in Athens and here especially in the summer there are many flights that connect the capital of Greece to all of Europe and the world.

Once you arrive in Athens you can choose two different options, either by land or by sea.

By land: you can very well rent a car perhaps with delivery and return right at the airport so as to be completely independent throughout your holiday in Greece. It will therefore be enough to take the highway and cross the bridge that connects Evia to Attica, setting Chalkida as coordinates and final destination, the capital and the first whaling center you come across.

If you don't have a car there is always public transport and you can get there in about an hour. First of all you have to take the bus n. 93 with direction Kifisou in Athens and from here change and take the bus towards Evia.

By sea: ferries depart from the port of Rafina and arrive in Marmari where you can also embark your car.

It should be emphasized that there are three ports in Evia, that of Marmari, that of Mantoudi from which connections depart for the of Skiathos island and the Skopelos island, and that of Kymi to reach the Skyros island or the Alonissos island.
