Pernera Beach Cyprus

2 minutes to read

The small and pretty Pernera Beach, we find it in the north-eastern part of the chameleonic Cyprus Island near the famous tourist resort of Paralimni and not far from the largest and equally sought after for a holiday in Greece in Protaras.

Let's say that the whole coast offers splendid beaches one after the other where there is only the embarrassment of choosing where to stop and spend a wonderful day at the beach.

Specifically, the Pernera beach is very quiet and preferred by families with children and by those who prefer a relaxing stay without missing all the comforts. It has the shape of a horseshoe with a coast of soft golden sand, clean and transparent waters, a sea with turquoise shades with a gently sloping seabed perfect for children and for those with mobility problems.

It is super equipped with sunbeds, umbrellas, water games, relaxation areas, points for water sports where you can have fun challenging old and new friends and an excellent diving center that can take you to discover the Zenobia wreck, one of the most beautiful in Italy all over the world and where to observe beautiful fish fauna and flora as the area is a marine reserve that hosts a great variety of species.

Two words about this beautiful attraction: the Zenobia wreck also nicknamed the Titanic of the Mediterranean is a 172 meter long ferry ship that sank on 7 June 1980 during its maiden voyage from Malmo in Sweden to Tartous in Syria and was carrying trucks and trailers. Run aground on the left side at a depth of 42 meters. The trip was fine until the computer detects an anomaly in the water pump in the port ballast. Stopping in Athens it seemed that the problem was solved but it recurred and worsened to the point of having to stop in the port of Larnaca where, however, they could not define the intervention to be done so much that they had to tow it off the shipping routes but unfortunately less. a mile from the shore it capsized and sank.

As for catering, on the seafront you can find typical taverns where you can delight the taste buds with Cypriot and traditional Greek dishes, cafes, bars, supermarkets and restaurants.

As I mentioned before, in reality the Pernera area is made up of several beaches such as Polissenia beach, a grassy area and a sandy coast with a path called Boardwalk that will take you to Protaras in about twenty minutes.

And again the Louma Bay Beach and Golden Coast to the left of the Paralimni port in the large bay that face each other with soft sand and amazing sea. And finally the Marlita beach also called Potami Bay, a small beach where the sea slowly descends, ideal for a swim or simply to lie down on the shore and cool off.

How to reach Pernera Beach

Head north east following the signs for Protaras and on the way you will meet the town of Paralimni which hosts the beach.

A good opportunity to go beyond the Famagusta area and discover new sides of the island more than valid reason to include it among the things to see in Cyprus.
