Makronissos beach is located in the north-eastern part of the multifaceted Cyprus Island, about five kilometers from the lively tourist resort of Ayia Napa, a popular destination especially for young people and those who love to party non-stop.

A splendid combination of three small bays that extend to the west, south and south east, while the south west part is part of the Natura 2000 protected area and therefore inaccessible.

A three hundred and fifty meters long coastline of soft golden sand, bathed by crystal clear and transparent waters that are almost always calm with a sea that goes from blue to turquoise to bright blue and gently sloping seabed. Makronissos beach is perfect for families with children who can have fun playing near the shore in total safety while adults enjoy the well-deserved tranquility.

Despite being close to Ayia Napa and its other "lively" beaches, Makronissos beach is the quietest one where you can spend a relaxing day, devote yourself to rest and tanning. For the more sporty, a wide choice of activities to deceive the hot summer days ranging from water skiing, to the classic pedal boat rather than parachuting and interesting diving to discover the abyss. Lovers of swimming and snorkeling, in Makronissos will find the best conditions to try their hand at these exercises.

The beach is well equipped, you will find sunbeds and umbrellas at a cost of about € 5 per day, lifeguards always vigilant to ensure safe bathing, showers, changing rooms and toilets. As for the peckish, again no problem, several kiosks will relieve the heat with exotic cocktails or fresh drinks and with quick and light dishes to appease hunger. For those who love to have lunch comfortably seated perhaps with a sea view, also in this case you will be satisfied by some taverns that serve dishes of the classic local and Greek cuisine. For the more demanding, on the other hand, there are some restaurants with more elaborate dishes always based on fresh products. Finally, for those who love DIY, there is a small minimarket.

If during the day you feel like taking a walk, you can find Vathia Gonia beach to the east and Agia Thekla beach to the west. For archeology enthusiasts, in the area where the Makronissos beach is located, the ancient necropolis where you can admire nineteen tombs of the Hellenistic and Roman period carved into the rock.

Awarded every year by the Blue Flag, Makronissos beach is suitable for all people who do not want to give up a screaming sea, comfort but without decibels at maximum power in the ears.


How to get to Makronissos Beach

It is very simple, always through a comfortable road.

From Larnaca. Take the A3 and exit at Σωτηρα, then follow the road to Agia Thekla and you will be there in no time.

From Nicosia. Take the A3 towards Ayia Napa exit at Σωτηρα, then follow the road to Agia Thekla.

From Protaras. Take the E306 and reach the A3 towards Larnaca exit at Σωτηρα, then follow the road to Agia Thekla.

If, on the other hand, you have decided not to hire a vehicle, there is a public bus service from the major seaside resorts. The right stop is Agia Thekla and from there in a few minutes you can reach Makronissos Beach.
