Cyprus Beches

The large and beautiful Cyprus Island, multifaceted and with a thousand faces where East and West merge, creating a unique synergy and magic. An island able to satisfy anyone, history, myth, tradition, dream beaches, super modern cities and villages still frozen in time, mysticism and a proud people who feel special and have every reason to.

A holiday in Cyprus is a fantastic and sometimes even shocking experience due to how far ahead it is in certain sectors but it will certainly be an adventure that is difficult to forget, on the contrary the desire to return and discover new things will be so strong that its call will not be able to don't welcome it.

There are many beaches to visit, holidays in Cyprus are no longer enough to be able to see them all, but being almost all mere mortals it is still possible to make a choice among the most characteristic and enjoy so much beauty that, as always, Mother Nature is able to give us.

We divide them by area so you can better organize yourself during your holiday in Greece.

West Part

Porto Pomos Beach

Porto Pomos beach is found in the north-west part of the island of Cyprus near the fishing village of the same name. Wild with a jagged coast, it is a small coast of dark gold sand mixed with pebbles, crystal clear waters and always very calm with a brilliant blue sea from the seabed in some rocky points which descend slowly at first. It is equipped with a few sunbeds and umbrellas, not many in truth, while to satisfy thirst and hunger there is a cafeteria. It is little known and frequented even in the high season and mainly people decide to come here for the tranquility, the sublime landscape and to explore the mysterious caves found in the rocks.

Blue Lagoon Beach

We find the Blue Lagoon beach in the wonderful Akamas Natural Park in the north-west part of the island in the Paphos region. The first civilized place near Blue Lagoon is the village of Neo Chorio which is actually nine kilometers away, all immersed in a still contaminated and extremely wild nature. The beautiful bay is made up of fine golden sand with rock formations around it covered in fragrant Mediterranean scrub. Clear and very transparent waters, a sea with all shades of blue with shallow waters that form real natural pools, a paradise in a nutshell. Its coral reef is a fun playground for snorkelers who will be able to observe the lush underwater world. It is a protected reserve so there are no comforts, just nothing but it doesn't matter, its extraordinary magnificence is enough and more. Nearby are the famous spas of Aphrodite, a small pond much loved by the Goddess who was born in Cyprus where legend has it that it was here that the Goddess met her great love. You can get there either by sea, on foot with a walk of an hour and a half from Polis, by car or quad or by public transport which is certainly the least convenient as you first have to reach Latchi and then continue walking for five kilometers.

Lara Beach

Lara Beach also called Turtel Beach is in the Akamas Park in the north west and is considered one of the wildest in all of Cyprus. Inside a wonderful bay it is made up of a long coastline that is divided into two: Lara Nord, the largest, and Lara Sud, the smallest, with soft sand, a bright turquoise sea and clear, transparent waters. All around there are low hills covered with Mediterranean-type vegetation which do not protect it too much from the winds, so much so that sometimes high waves form, dangerous for the little ones and for those who are not expert swimmers. Right here, precisely in Lara Nord, the Caretta-Caretta turtles (hence Turtle Beach) and the even rarer species of green turtles come to nest. It also falls within the protected area, in fact it is not permitted to plant umbrellas or place sunbeds to safeguard the animals' nests. You will have understood on your own that not even a shadow of equipment, everything is free and in its primordial state and above all it can only be visited in certain periods of the year. Reaching it is an adventure! First of all it is necessary to have a 4x4 because the road is a nightmare of holes and stones or you can opt for a guided excursion either by land or by sea.

Coral Bay

Coral Bay is north west of Cyprus in the municipality of Peya which is about ten kilometers south of Patphos. An inlet with a beach approximately six hundred meters long of soft white sand, bathed by turquoise waters with gently sloping seabeds, perfect for families with children. Every year it is awarded the Blue Flag for its perfectly preserved nature. Around the beach there are sandstone cliffs that shelter it from the winds, covered by Mediterranean scrub where fantastic caves are hidden to be explored. Snorkeling enthusiasts will find an ideal environment to meet the lively fish fauna and flora while those who love to indulge in hours under the sun will have all the major comforts at their disposal as it is well equipped with sunbeds, umbrellas, lifeguards and various kiosks where to drink or eat something. There is also no shortage of water sports and activities in Coral Bay, you can try your hand at the classic banana ride, jet skiing and for the more adventurous, paragliding. The sunset from here is sublime, don't miss it perhaps by taking a walk on the shore.

Polis Chrysochous Beach

Polis Chrysochous beach is part of the Paphos district and is located in the north-west part. It is also called Fisherman's Cove and its exact location is between Latchi Port and Dasoudi Beach. In reality it is the municipal beach of the village of Polis and has a coastline of sand mixed with light stones, intense blue and transparent waters with deep seabed. Its position makes it a very quiet beach where the sea is always flat and therefore perfect for a day at the beach. It is equipped with sunbeds, umbrellas, lifeguards who ensure safe bathing and a playground for the little ones as well as a bar restaurant for something to drink and eat. It is also one of the few that allows disabled people to enjoy a bath thanks to the Seatrac system, a special wheelchair on tracks that can take people with mobility problems directly into the sea.

Petra Tou Romiou Beach or Aprhodite Beach

Petra Tou Romiou beach is undoubtedly the symbol of Cyprus. It is found in the Paphos region in the south west. With a crescent shape, it extends with a coastline of small pebbles, a blue and emerald sea, clean and crystalline waters with an immediately deep seabed so if you have small children we pay extra attention. All around are enormous stacks, one of which is right in the middle of the sea where the myth says that the Goddess of beauty Aprhodite was born from the sea foam right here. It returns to the Forest Park where, through enchanting paths, you arrive at points where the panorama is breathtaking, especially at sunset. Cypriot tradition has it that if you swim at midnight on a full moon night by going around the stacks you will achieve immortality and eternal youth, blessed is he who succeeds we add...Snorkelling lovers on Aprhodite beach will be able explore the depths and meet the friendly and lively population of the underwater world. It is not equipped but just above where the car park is located you will find a bar for drinks and food.

Alikes Beach

Alikes Beach is in the south-west coastal area of Paphos. Mainly used by hotels facing the beach, it is made of fine, dark-coloured sand which further highlights the color of the sea, transparent and clean waters with a shallow seabed ideal for entertaining the little ones in safety while going out to sea it becomes rocky perfect for snorkelers. Every year it is awarded the Blue Flag for the excellent conservation of the territory and for the services offered. On both sides there are natural stone breakwaters to protect swimmers from the waves which form when the wind blows and can become annoying. It is equipped with sunbeds and umbrellas while for eating or drinking there is a vast choice of typical taverns, restaurants, bars and cafes. There is also a free area where you can put your towel in complete autonomy.

Avdimou Beach

Avdimou beach is found in the south west with its village of the same name, near the lively and modern town of Limassol. A long bay of one and a half kilometers in a wild nature where you can enjoy only the sea and the sound of the waves. Soft golden sand, transparent and clean waters and a constant and providential breeze especially in the summer period when temperatures reach up to 40 degrees. Postcard views and lots and lots of quiet. Here too the turtles gather to lay their eggs and continue their fragile species. It is not equipped, in fact be careful especially in August where you stand because you may find signs and fences indicating the nests that must be protected and not disturbed. There are no shaded areas so if you decide to stay there all day during your holiday in Cyprus, remember to bring either a hat or your umbrella. For eating and drinking, a couple of restaurants before arriving at the beach could be your point of reference to satisfy your appetites.

Limassol Beaches

Let's start by saying that Limassol is one of the most popular tourist locations for a holiday in Cyprus. The entire coast actually offers many coastlines, one more beautiful than the other and therefore it will be very difficult to decide which one to stop at, the best solution is to see them all! Let's start with Kourion beach which is located right where the ancient Greek-Roman amphitheater is. Sand mixed with pebbles, clear waters and a sea with a thousand shades of blue with shallow waters perfect for families with children. It is equipped with sunbeds, umbrellas, showers and a vast choice of restaurants, taverns, cafes and bars behind it. The western part is windier, in fact it is a paradise for lovers of windsurfing and all sports where Eolo must be the protagonist. We arrive at Apollo beach also called Zapalo Bay or Tripiti Gulf. The view from the cliff just above is something amazing that is difficult to explain in words. Yellowish sand mixed with small stones, intense blue waters and seabeds that descend quite quickly. Wild and primitive, it is ideal for the truly daredevils and loners as getting there is a little difficult and definitely requires an off-road vehicle. Zero comfort the beauty of Apollo beach is its simplicity and its naturalness. Pissouri beach, on the other hand, has a long beach of colored pebbles mixed with sand. A clean and wonderful sea but with deep seabed. Its position exposes it a lot to the winds, in fact it is very popular with surfers and those who want to do water activities. It is equipped with the presence of lifeguards while for the catering there are kiosks where you can drink or eat something.

East Part

Konnos Bay

Konnos Bay beach is north-east of Cyprus in the fun and transgressive area of Aya Napa. It is part of the Capo Greco Natura 2000 Forest National Park and is enclosed in a beautiful bay surrounded by high rocky mountains that shelter it from the winds and create a dream landscape especially when seen from above. It has a fairly wide beach of soft white sand with silvery reflections, a turquoise sea with clear, crystalline waters and shallow, gently sloping seabeds, perfect for families with children. It is very popular so much so that during the summer it fills up beyond belief but on the other hand it is so beautiful that everyone wants to come. It is super equipped with umbrellas, sunbeds, lifeguards and sports for all tastes. For catering, in this case too, there is only the embarrassment of where to sit or buy something. A curious thing, in Konnos Bay there are also floating deckchairs to enjoy the sea and the warm sun rays directly in the water.

Golden Beach

We can say that Golden Beach is the largest in all of Cyprus. It is located on the Karpaz Peninsula on the Turkish side of the island and is a true miracle of Mother Nature. Kilometers of soft golden sand, transparent, crystalline waters and a sea of a thousand colours. Wild that it's almost scary, with sandy dunes and Mediterranean scrub behind it, centuries-old giant junipers and everything tremendously uncontaminated and intact. Obviously a sign of zero civilization but the beauty is precisely this, endless expanses of sand in a natural context that can convert even the most technological human being, just a few solitary kiosks for something to drink or eat. On the beach of Golden Beach, peace and simplicity of things reign supreme. A secret corner where few venture but once seen it will be difficult to find an equally beautiful and free one. Only for those who love adventure and are not afraid of finding themselves isolated.

Nissi Beach

Nissi beach is the liveliest in the entire Ayia Napa area. To the north east and directly in the brilliant town of Ayia Napa, a mecca for entertainment, it is located in the middle of a beautiful bay with a long coastline of delicate white sand, a blue and turquoise sea with clean and transparent waters with shallow water, excellent for families with children and for those who love swimming. The outline of palm trees, mountains covered with lush vegetation, an islet in the middle of the sea create an exotic and distant environment. Here the sun shines for 270 days a year and it is one of the most sought after beaches especially by young people. Super equipped with sunbeds, umbrellas, games and water sports and a beach bar where legendary parties and evenings with DJ sets from all over the world are organized to make you dance until the first light of dawn. If you want to stay out of the confusion, it's better to move east to Nissi Beach, here there are few noises and just relaxation with a fabulous sea and services.

Makronissos Beach

Makronissos beach is in the Ayia Napa area of north-eastern Cyprus. In reality there are three pretty bays that form the beach, the one to the south west of which is inaccessible because it is part of the Natura 2000 project and therefore a protected area, all surrounded by rock formations that give life to small lagoons made of soft light sand, crystal clear waters and clean, a bright turquoise sea with gently sloping seabeds, ideal for families with children. Not being really attached to the lively and transgressive town, it has a much more peaceful and relaxed atmosphere and above all it is not super crowded like its neighboring sisters. It is well organized with sunbeds, umbrellas and beach bars offering refreshing drinks and dishes to calm the languid stomach. There are many sporting activities to do on the beach of Makronissos ranging from simple pedal boats to parachuting up to fun snorkeling and for the more demanding interesting dives to discover the depths. Every year it is awarded the Blue Flag for its excellent environmental protection and the services offered.

Fig Tree Bay Beach

Fig Tree Bay beach is found in the Protaras area in the north east of the island and holds third place among the most beautiful beaches in the world. Its curious name comes from the fig plants which in ancient times grew spontaneously and numerously behind the beach and which have unfortunately almost disappeared today. A wonderful inlet with a long coastline of golden sand mixed with stones of different sizes, clear and blue waters with a shallow seabed for several meters, ideal for families with children and the elderly. It is well equipped with sunbeds, umbrellas, sports and activities suitable for everyone, lifeguards who supervise bathers and also accessible for disabled people thanks to the Seatrac system. For the more adventurous, not far from the shore is a small uninhabited islet that can also be reached by swimming where you can have fun snorkeling and searching for marine inhabitants. For those who prefer a walk, from Fig Three bay beach you can reach Louma beach in a northerly direction or Lombardi beach in a southerly direction. As for food and drink, there are many beach bars and also taverns rather than small restaurants where you can sit contemplating the sea and taste local delicacies and traditional Greek cuisine. For the excellent quality of services and the environment that surrounds it, every year it is awarded the Blue Flag.

Ayia Tecla Beach

Ayia Tecla beach is one of the many coastlines in the Ayia Napa area in the north-east of the island of Cyprus and is part of the Natura 2000 protected area. A small horseshoe-shaped inlet that almost resembles an atoll with a beach of fine golden sand, always calm and blue waters with shallow waters that slope gently, perfect for swimming lovers and families with children. It is equipped with umbrellas, sunbeds and lifeguards while as regards catering there are many beach bars offering food and drinks as well as taverns, restaurants and fast food. Sports lovers will be able to enjoy disciplines such as paragliding or kitesurfing while snorkeling fans will be able to set off armed with fin and mask in search of the lively marine fauna and flora. Thanks to all these characteristics, every year it is awarded the Blue Flag and is among the top ten of the most beautiful beaches in Cyprus.

Pernera Beach

Pernera beach is close to the village of Paralimni in the Protaras area in the north-eastern part of the multifaceted island of Cyprus. Very quiet and perfect for families with children, it has a horseshoe shape with soft golden sand, a turquoise sea with crystal clear waters and shallow waters. It is very well equipped with umbrellas, sunbeds, sports and water activities while to eat or drink something on the seafront you can choose between traditional taverns, restaurants including international ones, bars, cafes and supermarkets if you are more DIY. Near the Pernera beach, diving lovers will be able to observe the famous Zenobia wreck, considered one of the most beautiful and interesting in the world, as well as a lively maritime flora and fauna. In reality, the entire Pernera area offers many coastlines where you can visit such as Polissenia beach, Loyma Bay beach, Golden Coast beach and Marlita beach.

Katsarka Beach

The small beach of Katsarka is less than five kilometers from the town of Ayia Napa in the north-eastern part of Cyprus. A strip of land just over two hundred meters long and thirty meters wide made of pebbles and surrounded by rock formations, clean waters and a blue sea with immediately deep seabed. The beauty and conservation of its natural environment every year gives it the much desired Blue Flag. A passage of sand made by man to allow entry into the water even for those with mobility problems and for those with delicate feet. Snorkeling is certainly the most suitable activity to do on Katsarka beach due to the rocks that hide a very lively underwater world. It is equipped but not as much as the other beaches on the coast, in the summer there is a lifeguard, sunbeds, umbrellas and a typical tavern for drinks and food of traditional Cypriot and Greek cuisine. Its position exposes it to the winds so when Aeolus is particularly nervous, it creates dangerous waves.

Loukkos Tou Mandi beach

Loukkos Tou Mandi beach is located in the bay of Ayia Napa together with many other beautiful beaches that characterize this stretch of coast of the beautiful island of Cyprus. A one hundred and fifty meter long beach made of golden sand mixed with dark lava rock, a blue sea with clear and clear waters with a seabed that slopes down but is made of rock slabs therefore not exactly comfortable for entering the water so much so that it would be better have some rock shoes, but as always the Greeks find a remedy, in fact a comfortable walkway has been built to make it easier for swimmers. Loukkos Tou Mandi beach is always very quiet and the moment of sunset offers moments of pure ecstasy. It is not equipped so remember to bring everything you need. Towards the port there are taverns, restaurants, mini markets, cafes and all services. If you like walking, from here you can reach Vathia Gonia beach and the wonderful Nissi beach from the pedestrian walkway.

Pantachou Beach

Pantachou beach is one of the three most fun beaches in the Ayia Napa area which by now you will have understood is located in the north-eastern area of Cyprus. One of the longest natural inlets with gold-colored sand, crystal clear waters with a gently sloping seabed perfect for families with children and the elderly. Super equipped, it offers various beaches where you can set up and spend a wonderful day at the seaside with sunbeds, umbrellas, professional lifeguards and a vast choice of traditional taverns, international and ethnic restaurants, fast food, cafes, shops of all kinds and mini markets. There is also no shortage of entertainment, you can try some water sports or go snorkelling. A part of Pantachou beach, however, is completely free so if you want to feel independent you can find your own little corner and spread out your beach towel. At the end of the bay you can visit the Love Bridge called Love Bridge, a scenic natural stone arch inside the Capo Greco Park that is absolutely not to be missed.

Glyki Nero Beach

Glyki Nero beach is located in the Famagusta region famous for Othello's castle in a north-east direction after Ayia Napa. A lovely bay with a coastline of white and gold sand, a sparkling turquoise and blue sea with clear and transparent waters and a shallow seabed that is excellent for the little ones who will be able to play in total safety. Every year it is also awarded the Blue Flag for its excellent organization and for the conservation of the territory. Its name, which translated means fresh water, is due to the spring that was once found among the rocks at the edge of the beach. It is well equipped with umbrellas, sunbeds, lifeguards, sports and water activities such as the classic pedalo, rather than the jetsky or paragliding while, as far as catering is concerned, there are many classic taverns, restaurants, bars and cafes. There are also many accommodation options ranging from simple apartments to large resorts where nothing is missing for a wonderful holiday in Cyprus.

Ammos Tou Kambouri Beach

We can define Ammos Tou Kambouri beach as a small corner of Paradise. It is always located in the north east nestled in a beautiful natural bay between the caves of Ayia Napa and the Capo Greco Park. A stretch of coast with sand mixed with small stones bathed by a clean and intense blue sea with a seabed that immediately becomes deep with rocky slabs and therefore a little difficult for children and for those with mobility problems. In recent years the municipality has renovated the beach, equipping it with new sunbeds, umbrellas, changing rooms, lifeguards and many activities to do together with the family or with old or new friends. A snack bar offers fresh drinks and quick dishes throughout the day or you can do it yourself by finding what you need in a small minimarket. Snorkelling lovers will be able to discover the underwater world among the high rock formations that provide a natural habitat for sea creatures. There are also small natural pools where you could just be there and relax under the warm Hellenic sun's rays.

Limnara Beach

Limanra beach also called Kermia beach is towards Cape Greco a couple of kilometers from Ayia Napa. A beach hidden by dense palm trees, soft sand, turquoise, clear and transparent waters with shallow waters made up of large stones so it's better to have rock shoes to avoid getting hurt, a real paradise! Large rock formations on the sides of the beach give rise to small natural pools perfect for a moment of relaxation. Given its environmental characteristics and the care taken in its conservation, it is awarded the Blue Flag every year. It is well equipped and during the summer period there are always lifeguards and lifeguards present in order to guarantee peaceful and safe bathing. There are many water sports and activities to do such as a good game of beach volleyball which, in addition to having fun, will allow you to maintain physical shape. Finally, a wide choice of restaurants, taverns, bars and cafes for a refreshing drink or something to eat. Being in the Cape Greco National Forest Park, even hiking enthusiasts will be able to visit the Aya Napa Caves and the entire area full of routes in the midst of still intact nature.

Vathia Gonia Beach

Vathia Gonia beach is also in the north east on the coast of the town of Ayia Napa. Its extremely favorable position in the middle of two headlands always shelters it from the winds making it one of the most beautiful places to spend a peaceful day at the beach. Also called Sandy Beach, it has soft sand, clear, turquoise waters and a gently sloping seabed, excellent for those with mobility problems and for families with children. The rock formations shaped by wind and salt are the ideal place for snorkelling and diving lovers so remember to bring fins and a mask. It is equipped with sunbeds, umbrellas, lifeguards and many activities to do. For food and drinks there is no problem behind you, you are just spoiled for choice in which tavern or club to stop. From the headlands you can enjoy a magnificent panorama over the entire coast.
