The Cyprus Island is a world within the world and this already says a lot. It is a very large island, 225 kilometers long and 82 wide for an area of 9251 square kilometers. The stable population is just over a million people.

As you will understand by yourself, it is immense and being able to visit all of it certainly takes years! But it is still possible to taste it even during your holiday in Greece and enjoy so much beauty.

The absolute means given the large distances is the car. Renting it in Cyprus does not cost as much as in the other Greek Islands, and it is certainly the most functional and comfortable way to visit the area. You will find rent a car everywhere but in our opinion the best thing is to take it from the airport. Rental cars in Cyprus can be recognized because they have a special red license plate. Opt for a small car if you are two or four at the most, some roads especially for the villages are small and it will be much easier to drive. If you want to go on dirt roads and in Cyprus there are several that reach enchanting points, it is better to choose a 4x4.

Pay particular attention if you go to the Akamas Peninsula, to the wonderful Blue Lagoon and to the Karpaz Peninsula, here you need to be an expert driver because the road is truly a nightmare but the destination will amply repay the effort.

Pay attention to the checks and also to the speed limits, the roads are heavily monitored by the forces of order, especially when the island is full, therefore, no scuffing or crazy racing, even if on a completely free straight line, without you realizing it, you may be joined by a patrol that in addition to a copious fine could also withdraw your license thus ruining your holiday in Cyprus. Most parking spaces are free and can be found almost everywhere. If you decide to visit the Turkish side, know that additional insurance is required which is taken out directly at the border. The costs vary according to the time you decide to stay in the Ottoman area.

If, on the other hand, you are a lover of freedom, you can also rent a two-wheeled vehicle, needless to say that it will have to be of a large engine capacity if you want to get around Cyprus a bit.

Curiosity: Don't forget that Cyprus drives on the right as it was under the English flag for a long time!

Pubblic transport: note that on Sundays there is no sign of public transport! The races are found from Monday to Saturday. The network is quite good in the sense that it certainly covers the major tourist locations and some villages but that's all, so plan your visits well and above all consult the timetables and destinations. The Ktel company is also present in Cyprus but ask for advice at the hotel, where you will certainly find all the updated information.

Taxi: Taxi service is very good, widespread and cheap compared to other areas of Greece the only flaw is that taxi drivers often make longer trips with the consequence of a higher cost.

Remember this thing that is of fundamental importance! If you enter Cyprus from the Turkish side, you will never be able to cross the Green Line and arrive in the Republic of Cyprus, the Greek side. Only the other way around is it possible to do it.
