How to get to Cyprus

2 minutes to read

Here we are at one of our favorite islands Cyprus. Last European area certainly closest to Asia Minor and with a thousand faces with many influences that make it unique.

Two cultures mix, the Greek-Cypriot and the Turkish in the northern part of the island, scene of an illegitimate occupation of the 70s not yet recognized by the international community to this day, where a line called the Green Line separates the two territories. If you want you can cross it and it is not so difficult, among other things it is a very beautiful part of the island to visit, but equally the Greek part has so much to offer indeed more.

Cyprus is a large island with enchanting beaches, archaeological sites of high importance as well as worldwide, mythical places such as that of the beautiful Aphrodite who was born right here from the sea foam, museums, mosques, a lively nightlife, ultra-modern towns and villages stuck in time, and still paths for trekking and walks through the green and immense woods as well as ski slopes for the winter, in short, nothing is missing in Cyprus you can come for ten months a year thanks to its mild temperatures which even in February, for example, will allow you to wear short sleeves during the day.

Reaching it is very simple, there are two ways to do it.

By plane

By now from all over Europe there are direct flights, even low-coast, several times a week reaching Cyprus which, among other things, hosts three international airports: Larnaca, the largest in the north, Pafos, the smallest in the south and finally Ercan in the Turkish side. They are more frequent during the summer season, in winter they are reduced but by planning your holiday in Cyprus well, you can also get there in the low season.

An alternative could be a flight to Athens and then take a domestic flight to Cyprus, maybe it costs a bit more depending on the season but it could be a valid alternative.

On boat

Times are very long keep this thing in mind. From Italy, you have to get to Piraeus in Athens and from there take a ferry which in about eighteen hours arrives in Limassol in the south of the island.

If by chance you are on holiday in Rhodes or Crete (Chania), you can take the ship that arrives in Cyprus at Larnaca. It takes respectively five hours in both cases.
