Megali Ammos Beach Kefalonia

Megali Ammos beach is located in the southwestern part of Kefalonia about ten minutes by car from the capital Argostoli.

Near the beach of Megali Ammos there is also the Eglina beach, on the other hand the whole bay of Argostoli is a succession of beaches suitable for all tastes. Megali Ammos beach is a long coastline of about a kilometer and a half of golden sand with transparent and clean waters, a blue and turquoise sea with a bottom that slowly descends so as to be one of the favorite beaches for families with children.

It is perfectly equipped with sun beds, umbrellas, beach games and water sports to challenge old or new friends. As far as catering is concerned, you can choose from a large variety of typical taverns, restaurants, cafes, mini markets and shops.

Behind the Megali Ammos beach an enchanting landscape made of luxuriant woods and maritime pines that give that typical Greek flavor.

In the southern part of the beach there is a small mooring used mainly by local fishing boats that supply all taverns and restaurants with fresh fish every day.

On the Megali Ammos beach the Caretta-Caretta turtles, now almost endangered and very protected in the Greek Islands, also come to lay their eggs in the depths of the sand. It will not therefore be difficult to find species of enclosures, know that these are the limits not to be exceeded because underneath are the eggs of these cute reptiles. From the end of August until mid-October there is the magical hatching and if maybe you are on the island you may also be lucky to witness the miraculous birth of the little ones who with such tenacity head towards the sea to begin their long life to return as adults to reproduce right on the same beach where they were born.

First of all, keep Argostoli as a reference point so you are already almost on the finishing straight. Take the road from Argostoli-Lassi Airport-Svoronata, you will meet a sign that says Minies, turn right and cross the village until you reach the Spasmata beach.
