Fteri Beach Kefalonia

2 minutes to read

The beautiful Fteri Beach, a real gem of the Kefalonia Island, can be found in the northwestern part near the lively town of Lixouri and more precisely in the Zola village, a mountain village on the top of Mount Lakties in the Paliki Peninsula.

A paradise that has nothing to envy to Caribbean places with a medium-sized coast made of small pebbles of a blinding white and for this reason, if you have delicate feet, better put on rock shoes, a sea of crazy colors that go to intense blue to bright turquoise, crystal clear and extremely clean waters and finally a sandy bottom that descends quite quickly.

All around, high white cliffs, punctuated by a rich Mediterranean vegetation that with the contrast of colors, creates an idyllic and unique environment.

Obviously the beach is not equipped at all so if you want to stay all day you must remember to bring everything you need, from a good sunscreen, to something to shelter you from the sun in the hottest hours, to food and drink.

Despite being one of the most beautiful beaches of the island of Kefalonia, Fteri beach is never too crowded and the reason is because it is not so easy to reach it. There are two alternatives, either on foot or by boat.

If you choose the boat and we strongly advise you to do so, you can either rent a dinghy independently or participate in one of the day trips that are proposed by the various tourist agencies departing from the port of Zola. With the rental boat it will be an unforgettable experience as the whole of Fteri Bay is a continuous surprise. As soon as you leave the port and go around the small promontory you can already understand the beauty of the area and that Mother Nature has really put a lot of effort into creating it given the result. The first pearl you will find will be a stretch of sea called rightly and you will understand why only by going there Blue Lagoon. A small white beach washed by a sea of amazing colors and a white sandy bottom that looks like a natural swimming pool where, however, it is better not to stop as the cliffs behind are made of very friable rock and consequently dangerous. It does not matter, you can dock your boat and enjoy so much wonder with a regenerating bath and if you are lucky and have got the time right, it could be just you who reigns over the area.

Continuing to navigate in the Fteri Bay among fantastic glimpses of white rocks where the only living beings are some solitary goat and the seagulls, we also arrive at the Amidi Beach where there is also the last rock that falls into the gulf area. As in the Fteri beach, here too it is possible to stop and the waters are even cleaner and more intensely colored than the other beaches, an Eden to leave you speechless.

How to get to Fteri Beach

As we have anticipated before there are two solutions, either by sea or by land.

If you opt for land, however, you must know that the only way is through a path to be done on foot passing through a fairy forest that will take you to the beach in about forty minutes. A journey in close contact with Nature not difficult but to be done with extreme caution and with the right clothing, avoid flip-flops but strictly tennis shoes.

By sea or by renting a boat independently, or you can rely on the daily excursions that you will find in any tourist agency in Kefalonia.

An unmissable experience, to be put and highlighted among the things to do in Kefalonia, to be able to discover a nature so perfect that it will remain forever in your best memories.
