Assos Beach Kefalonia

2 minutes to read

Assos beach is another pearl of the Kefalonia Island. Let's say that the beach plus the typical and picturesque village are a whole, impossible to separate and impossible to say what is better between the two.

It is located in the north-eastern part of Kefalonia between the mythical and unmistakable Myrthos beach and the lively seaside resort of Fiskardo, while Argostoli the capital is located about thirty-five kilometers to the southwest.

Wedged in the small but marvelous bay, the beach of Assos, has a reduced coastline of clear stones of various sizes ranging from small to medium, washed by an emerald sea at times turquoise, with extremely clear and crystalline waters, never agitated indeed always very calm and flat with a gently sloping seabed, therefore ideal for families with children.

It is equipped with a few sun beds and umbrellas, on the other hand, given the space it would not even be possible to have more ', with two taverns behind it where you can taste the typical dishes of Greek and local cuisine directly on the sea with a respectable view.

In reality there are two beaches, one is the one we have just talked about, the other one is even smaller, we find it on the road that leads to the famous Assos castle. A strip of land with small stones, a spectacular sea but slightly deeper than the city coast and completely free, here you can spread your towel wherever you like and especially given the size where you will find a place.

For something to drink or eat just a few steps away the beautiful village with its restaurants much loved by visitors where you can let your taste buds free with old and new recipes.

Assos, is one of the most sought after villages during a holiday in Kefalonia, or just for a trip out of town or for the lucky ones who can book well in advance for a stay. There are some accommodation facilities to be able to remain stable in Assos, just do it in time given the limited number of places.

You can combine a refreshing dip in its splendid waters and maybe a few hours on the beach and then go to the discovery of the country, completely surrounded by greenery and an almost fairytale atmosphere. Do not miss a visit to the Kastro, the castle of the Venetian era built to defend itself from the continuous attacks of pirates which can be reached with a pleasant walk and from which you can enjoy an excellent view of the surrounding area.

A place that seems almost forgotten by time, where everything flows at slow rhythms and where above all there seems to be no intention of changing and switching to modern comforts. We add a welcome and that many others also take an example...

How to get to Assos Beach

For those who have decided on an independent holiday and have therefore rented a vehicle, nothing could be easier, heading north east from anywhere you have decided to stay and follow the road signs.

For those who are not autonomous, there is a public bus service from the main tourist resorts but as always we invite you to check the timetables carefully in order to be able to organize yourself in the best possible way.

Here is another nice glimpse to visit and keep tight in the memories of your holiday in Greece and therefore to check out among the things to see in Kefalonia.
