The Captain Nicolas Restaurant Kefalonia

The Captain Nicolas tavern is found in Vasta near Lixuori on the beautiful Paliki Peninsula north-west of the Kefalonia island.

The restaurant was opened for the first time in 1992 by Joanna's father who currently manages this small company together with his mother, his daughter and other family members.

The name Captain Nicolas is chosen in memory of Joanna's brother who was a very good fisherman and together with dad and mom they started their adventure in catering.

Most of the vegetables come from the vegetable garden which is cared for with extreme love by the owners of the Taverna and also the olive oil is homemade. For the rest, it is purchased by local breeders and fishermen.

In the kitchen we find Joanna's mother who has her own philosophy on how to prepare food. According to her, you have to cook as if taking care of your man, therefore with a lot of love and a lot of imagination.

The main dishes of Captain Nicolas are certainly the fish but also the dishes of the classic Greek cuisine and in particular we recommend you to taste the pastisio, the timeless and unmissable moussaka or the meat pie, all served in single portions in traditional terracotta pots. Grilled dishes such as fish or meat are still cooked on the grill with charcoal which is now rare to find and which certainly gives a different taste.

Do not forget that Captain Nicolas is located in a fantastic area, two hundred meters from the beach and with a breathtaking view especially if you go there at sunset.

The value for money is really excellent we are on the expenditure between 12 and 17 € per person then it always depends on what you will choose for your lunch or dinner. Credit card payments are also accepted. The tavern is open from mid April to mid October.

So having said that why eat at Captain Nicolas? Certainly for the authenticity of the dishes that are offered, for the enchanting position where you can admire a glimpse of the fascinating Kefalonia, for the price that is very competitive and for the kindness of all the staff who always try to do their best for make you feel part of the family and not simply tourists.

It is recommended in the high season to book the table because it could be very easy that you don't find a place, Captain Nicolas is well known and also in great demand.

In conclusion we tell you to try at least once this typical Greek tavern where Joanna and family still do things with love giving 100% to make you try delicious cuisine and you felt at home.
