Possidi beach Chalkidiki Peninsula

2 minutes to read

We arrive at Possidi beach also known as Miti di Posidi (myths in Greek means nose) or Capo dei Possidi and again Ammoglossa in short, call it whatever you want, the result is always the same, a perfect drawing of Mother of Nature.

We find it in the Kassandra Peninsula that seen from above according to someone has almost the shape of a foot and the beach of Possidi together with its picturesque village is just the heel (I love the Greeks, they always find an imaginative side in all things and everything always comes back to their infinite legends). Yes, because this magnificent strip of land is also shrouded in myths, as it is much loved by the God Poseidon who gave it life and for whom in ancient times a sumptuous temple dedicated to him was erected in the 2nd century BC. It is considered one of the oldest in Greece to date unfortunately no longer visible apart from some ruins of the sanctuary.

Let's spend a few words for the Possidi village. Just after the settlement of Fourka it is in the southwestern part of the Cassandra peninsula and in recent years it has developed a lot offering today a wide choice of accommodation ranging from simple apartments to luxury resorts. Its promenade is full of typical taverns where you can enjoy excellent fresh fish and all the specialties of Greek cuisine, restaurants, cafes, bars and clubs where you can stay late in the evening even if in reality the village of Possidi is not really suitable if you want a holiday based on nightlife, it is very quiet and everything is soft, perhaps also for this favorite destination for families with children and couples.

For an alternative to a day at sea, in Possidi it is possible to visit the ruins of the ancient city of Mende founded in the eighth century BC by the colonists of Eretria. Like all seaside resorts, it has its own city beach where a tall white lighthouse stands as an identifying mark of the town.

But let's get to the real queen of Possidi's beaches. Cape Faros or Possidi Cape or simply Possidi beach, is a sandbar that extends deep into the sea and divides it in two, a crazy landscape with this sandy peninsula that changes shape according to the sea current. A place with a desert flavor with a narrow tongue of soft and white sand surrounded by crystalline and clear waters, a sea of amazing colors that go from blue to intense turquoise and from the seabed at the beginning of flat stones that fit into sand buckets . The side towards Possidi is usually more subject to winds while on the opposite side towards Aigeopelagitika it is always almost flat.

Here there are no comforts, no sunbeds, umbrellas or refreshment points, only unspoiled and wild nature so if you want to spend the whole day bring everything you need from something to shelter from the sun, to drinks and to eat.

Before the sandy strip, a rich vegetation made of pines and olive trees where most of the most beautiful structures in the area are concentrated, such as the Possidi Holiday Resort & Suite Hotel.

A place of unparalleled beauty, wild and still intact with a mix between land and sea that really leaves you breathless where the sun sets late and is a fantastic show and therefore gives you plenty of time to relax.

How to get to Possidi Beach

If you are not staying directly in Possidi, head southwest following the road signs and you will easily reach the area, nothing could be easier!

A beach to visit absolutely and put on the list of things to see in the Halkidiki Peninsula where you can spend a quiet day with a rich and particular nature.
