Le spiagge del Monte Athos Penisola Calcidica

2 minutes to read

The third phalanx of the beautiful Halkidiki is Mount Athos, an extremely sacred place for the Orthodox.

In addition to being a particular place of worship (read the article dedicated to the curiosity of Mount Athos in the blog section Halkidiki Peninsula), like the other areas of this little corner of paradise it has beautiful beaches to see if you are a guest on the Peninsula.

As always, not a ranking but useful information on which to focus on:

ALKYES BEACH

Located on the wonderful little Ammouliani island right in front of the Mount Athos area, it is a crescent shaped blue flag beach with soft white sand and a sea with crystal clear, emerald colored water. It is particularly suitable for families with children. The beach is equipped to spend a fun day.

MEGALI AMMOS BEACH

Also on the small Ammouliani island, it is located not near the village of the same name but at the eastern end right near the Gaidouronisa (Donkey Islands) complex. Megali Ammos (meaning big sand) is a fine sand beach with crystal clear, calm waters. It is equipped with sunbeds, umbrellas, beach bars and water sports for all tastes. Several taverns on the coast famous for serving delicious dishes based on the freshest seafood.

AGIOS GEORGIOS BEACH

Agios George on the island of Ammouliani, is located on the north east coast of the island where you can also admire Ouranoupoli. With rigorous vegetation and extremely crystalline waters, it is a beach with soft sand ideal for families with children. You will find a couple of excellent taverns where you can enjoy fresh fish. If, however, you love peace on foot or by boat you can find some beautiful solitary coves.

KARAGATSIA BEACH.

To the south of the  Ammouliani island, and near Alkyes Beach, it is a small beach with fine sand and clear waters, ideal for those who love underwater fishing and want to be in close contact with nature. On the sides slopes rise with a ravine at the end where there is this beautiful beach which takes its name from the fir trees (karagatsia). It offers visitors a kiosk with drinks and fast food. A true, still uncontaminated paradise.

OURANOPOLIS BEACH

It has the sacred Mount Athos as a backdrop and is a wonderful beach with very fine white sand and cerulean and cobalt waters that will take your breath away. The beach is equipped with sunbeds, umbrellas, taverns where you can enjoy the many local gastronomic offerings and a vast choice of water sports for the more sporty.

COMITSA BEACHA

few kilometers from the Nea Roda village, we find Comitsa Beach, a coastline of soft golden sand with clean waters that descend slowly, ideal for children. Part of the beach is equipped with sunbeds and umbrellas and a beach bar for something to drink or eat, and a free part where you can relax with your equipment.

VOULITSA BEACH

Also near the characteristic fishing Nea Roda village, there is Voulitsa Beach. Just behind the Agios Theodoroi , extended between two hills lush with vegetation, there is an expanse of soft sand and, as with all the Halkidiki Peninsula beaches , blue and transparent waters.

Equipped with sunbeds, umbrellas and a beach bar for fresh fruit juice and traditional food for example.

XYROPOTAMO BEACH

With soft golden sand, clear turquoise sea and shallow waters, it is one of the favorite beaches for families.

With a beautiful Siggitikos view bay it can be reached from Tripiti via a dirt road.

It is not equipped so bring everything you need to spend the day.
