Psili Ammos Beach Amorgos

2 minutes to read

The picturesque and hidden of Psili Ammos Beach, we find it in the northern part of the Amorgos Island about a couple of kilometers from the Aegiali Bay and just after Levrossos beach.

Remote and for this reason still uncontaminated and wild, it has a small coastline of soft light sand (Psili Ammos in Greek means fine sand) bathed by clear and crystalline waters with a sea that fades from turquoise to emerald to deep blue. The seabed does not descend strongly, therefore 'they can also be suitable for families with children.

Given its position, the small cove is sheltered from the winds so much so that here it is difficult to form waves or the sea is rough, and the steep cliffs behind it like a sweet embrace protect it from the whims of the capricious God Aeolus. Just after the beach, a rich vegetation of Mediterranean scrub and tamarisk trees that give shade in the hottest hours. It is not equipped at all, here everything is still in the wild, so if you decide you want to spend the whole day in this corner of paradise, remember to bring everything you need starting from something to drink, to eat and a good sunscreen.

There are obviously no tourist facilities either, here you will be only you and Mother Nature in all its splendor and disarming simplicity. Psili Ammos beach is perfect for snorkelers who can have fun among the rocks of the seabed to discover the fish fauna and flora that live in the abyss. As always, we recommend not to leave garbage around to preserve these rare territories and to worry about taking away all the superfluous, especially the plastic.

How to reach Psili Ammos Beach

There are two possibilities to get to Psili Ammos beach. The first is by sea, from Aegiali every day in the summer especially, every twenty minutes a boat leaves to take you to the beach. You can buy the ticket directly on board and above all remember to ask for the times to return unless you want to spend a night under a fantastic starry sky accompanied only by the sound of the sea.

The second option, no less beautiful because it offers the opportunity to explore the entire surrounding area, is on foot. From the port of Aegiali it takes about forty minutes, passing by the beach of Levrossos, among other things, a great opportunity to stop in both.

Here is another thing to include among the things to see in Amorgos, perhaps killing two birds with one stone and spending a wonderful day being caressed by the warm sun rays of Greece.
