Kato Kampos Beach Amorgos

2 minutes to read

The small Kato Kampos Beach, we find it in the northern part of the Amorgos Island on the east side, not far from the Kolofana village. The largest center Katapola is about twenty kilometers north of the beach.

A graceful panoramic gulf that presents itself with a coastline of fine sand mixed with small pebbles and with the presence of numerous rocks scattered here and there along the beach. It is bathed by clean and crystalline waters with colors ranging from turquoise to deep blue to emerald, with seabed that descend slowly and therefore perfect for families with children and for lovers of long swims. The only drawback is that being made of stones, if you have delicate feet it would be better to have rock shoes.

Perfect for a day of total relaxation as it is not very popular given its somewhat remote location, where you can indulge in regenerating baths in a clear and inviting sea especially on the hottest days. Obviously it is not equipped, however, even if its dimensions are rather small, so 'if your plan is to spend a day indoors, remember to bring enough food and drink. Not even the shadow of tourist facilities, just nature, sea and lots of peace.

Almost at the edge of the sea there is a lovely chapel, Panagia Katokampiani, which can be visited as it is usually open.

The village of Kalofana about a couple of kilometers from the Kato Kampos beach, is the classic Greek village in the imagination of all travelers. The main livelihood activities are fishing, agriculture and livestock. Small low houses in white lime in the classic Cycladic and Amorgian style, with some taverns where you can eat excellent fresh fish at really good prices. If you are in these parts for your holiday in Amorgos around 25 and 26 July, do not miss the famous festival at the church of Agia Paraskevi where traditional food is served accompanied by local music and dances with very ancient origins.

How to reach Kato Kambos Beach

Easy, but you need to have your own vehicle because there are no public bus rides. So follow the road south west to Arkesini and continue looking at the road signs to the village of Kalofana. When you reach the village, turn right where you will meet a dirt road, follow it for about a kilometer and you will arrive at the beach of Kato Kambos.

A nice ride to do maybe taking the opportunity to visit the southernmost part of the island, beautiful and wild. Impossible not to put it on the list of things to see in Amorgos, it will be a pleasant trip and that will allow you to explore this still rural area full of charm.
