Amorgos

How to get to Amorgos

2 minutes to read

The Amorgos island the easternmost of the Cyclades Islands, the border between northern and southern Greece, the gateway to Asia Minor.

Also an island not beaten by mass tourism perhaps due to the difficulty in reaching it, a destination for connoisseurs and for those who love trekking. A continuum of contradictions and landscape changes so as to make your head spin with an intact and breathtaking nature.

Getting there again is a kind of adventure but one that will certainly be rewarded with a different territory, barren, bare but extremely genuine.

One thing must be underlined, Amorgos is often windswept, here Eolo perhaps finds its maximum enjoyment or punishment, you decide how to define it.

Let's start by saying that the only way to reach Amorgos is by sea, there is no airport and this too has greatly influenced the conservation of the island. Secondly, Amorgos has two ports that connect it with the rest of the world, one is Aegiali in the north and Katapola in the south where fast ships usually arrive.

Having said that, here are the possibilities you will have to get to the Blue Island:

Flight to Athens + ferry. By now cheap flights to Athens can be found even in high season so it could be a valid alternative if you have the patience and time to "lose" several hours on the ship.

From Piraeus to Katapola it takes about 9.5 hours

From Piero to Aegiali it takes about 7 hours and 40

cost around €50

Flight to Mykonos + ferry to Katapola. The journey time is approximately two and a half hours and depends a lot on the arrival time of your flight. During the summer period there may also be several trips, consult the site listed below as the programming usually comes out in early March. It may be that if the times do not coincide you will be forced to spend one night and in the worst case scenario two (round trip) in Mykonos

cost around 72€ per person one way

Flight to Santorini + ferry to Katapola. The journey time is about an hour and a quarter and depends a lot on the arrival time of your flight. During the summer period there may also be several trips, consult the site listed below as the programming usually comes out in early March. It may be that if the times do not coincide you will be forced to spend one night and in the worst case scenario two (round trip) in Santorini

cost around 65€ per person one way

However, we can say that Amorgos despite being a bit lost, is connected quite well with the other islands, you can also reach Naxos, Paros, Koufonissi, Schinoussa, Donoussa and Iraklia, and again Milos, Folegandros and Ios to finish with Crete, Leros, Kos and Rhodes, but for this we advise you to write to us at info@bookingisolegreche.com and provide us with your travel itinerary so we can find the best solutions.
