Vythisma Beach Alonissos

2 minutes to read

Vythisma Beach or Vithisma as it is also called, we find it in the south east part of the Alonissos Island. The capital Patitiri is located about two and a half kilometers on the other side.

Wedged in a beautiful secluded bay near Marpounda and just after Megalo Mourtias beach it is very popular with naturism as it is perhaps the most remote and difficult to reach on foot. A coast of dark sand and pebbles bathed by an extremely clean and crystalline sea with colors that change from emerald to turquoise to deep blue, surrounded by maritime pines that almost touch the waters and give natural shade to visitors and that make the landscape like a souvenir postcard.

A quiet beach, perfect for lovers of relaxation and privacy where you can spend a day with only the sound of the sea. It is one of the few sandy beaches on the island of Alonissos that mainly offers a coast of small and medium-sized pebbles, and together with the Chrisi Milia beach it is considered among the best on the island.

Obviously it is not equipped at all, on the other hand you will almost feel like you are out of this world, a bit like modern Robinson Crusoes so remember to bring enough water and food in case you decide to spend the whole day there.

How to reach Vythisma Beach

As we said above, getting to Vythisma beach is not that easy and that is why it is still intact and in its original state.

The simplest method is by sea. If you want, you can rent a boat privately and head south-east to reach it, or you can inquire at the tourist agencies in Patitiri on the itineraries of the excursions.

The alternative is by land on foot. First of all you have to take the road that leads to Marpounta beach and follow it until the indication of Megalo Mourtias beach. Turn right and take a dirt road up to an open space where you can leave your vehicle (it is essential to have a rental car or scooter because there is no public transport that goes up to here). From this point begins a path that descends towards the sea quite steep and hidden by the vegetation so be very careful.

Let's say that the route on foot is a bit challenging, but the beauty of the still wild and uncrowded Vythisma beach will amply repay the effort.

A corner of Paradise to conquer and discover and therefore to be included in the list of things to see in Alonissos, but watch out only for adventure and discovery lovers.
