Roussoum Gialos Beach Alonissos

2 minutes to read

And here we are at Roussoum Gialos beach in the south-eastern part of the Alonissos Island about a couple of kilometers from the capital Patitiri and just one from the port of the capital.

A small coastal settlement within a pretty bay, a very popular destination for tourism both for the location and for the beauty of the area, in fact, here the development is growing very quickly and you can find accommodation facilities such as hotels and apartments.

A coast of light medium-grained sand framed by rocks covered with pines that seem to want to caress the immense Aegean, bathed by a clean, crystalline and calm sea with an emerald and turquoise color, with a bottom that drops quickly so not really suitable for most It is also small considering the fact that it is full of quite slippery flat rocks. Given the conformation of the beach and the difficulty in entering the water at times, we recommend rock shoes so as not to get hurt and be able to move more freely. The landscape is magnificent especially where the inlet opens onto the sea and the rocks becoming lower offer an almost magical view of the horizon especially at sunset.

Given its position, the Roussoum Gialos beach is sheltered from the winds thus becoming an ideal stop on the days when the Meltemi expires on the Greek Islands. For diving enthusiasts, a well-stocked Diving Center can be an excellent opportunity to explore and discover the wonderful seabed of Alonissos.

It is partly equipped with sun beds and umbrellas at a price of around € 6 per day, while one area is completely free and you can put yourself where it will inspire you most. As for catering, here you will be spoiled for choice, behind the coast the small village with several taverns where you can enjoy excellent fresh fish, seafood and traditional local dishes. For those who love DIY, you can find a minimarket, a greengrocer and an oven where you can taste all the delights of the island, try the tyropita contest, a savory pie filled with cheese or the spanakopita also a savory pie stuffed with spinach and feta a real drug.

Curiosity

During the domination of the Ottomans, Roussoum Gialos was the port where the famous wine of Alonissos was traded and where taxes were paid. The word Roussoum has its origins in the Turkish word Rsum "which means" tax ".

How to get to Roussoum Gialos Beach

Very easy! If you have a rental vehicle, whether it is a scooter or a car, just follow the road signs from Patitiri, if you like to walk from the capital it takes about fifteen minutes through the picturesque harbor.

A visit to Roussoum Gialos beach is a must, mark it among the things to see in Alonissos and take the opportunity to stop and eat in one of its delicious taverns.
